Remember how a few weeks back I posted about how I was going to have a change in perspective? Instead of stressing out about whether my stuff would be accepted or rejected, I’d just focus on writing good material, and hope the world would jump on whenever it wanted to? Well, I don’t know if someone upstairs approved of that perspective, but I have a short story coming out in a magazine this spring!
The magazine in question is Inaccurate Realities, a new venture (they just started up in October) that is looking to fill the gaping hole that is literary magazines for Young Adults with a focus on fantasy and science fiction. The story is called “The Paper Doll.” On top of being my first attempt to write a straight comedy, it’s also a bit of a prequel to Lady of Darkwood, introducing the characters of Lya and Page. A little inspired by The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, it shows Lya’s first dealings with advance magic, and the disastrous results.
I am super happy, not only to be a part of this exciting new magazine, but to finally see my work in print (both ebook and paper format). They have a link up on their website for preorders through paypall. Once the issue is out. they’ll be the option of ordering through amazon as well. I’m quite glad this is coming out so soon, as waiting is going to be really stressful!
